Our Mission

Our mission at Studio Arts Dallas (formerly the Lakewood Arts Academy) is to honor the creative genius that lives in every child and adult. Since 1992, our art classes for children have introduced hundreds to a deeper understanding of themselves through the art process. Our teachers guide students through carefully designed explorations of the fundamentals of art making, encouraging them to hold their innate creativity in confidence as they grow. Your child’s investigations into a wide variety of media develop creative problem-solving skills and nurture imagination in an inspirational, supportive atmosphere that addresses the individual needs of every student. Barley Vogel

Barley is, above all, a creativity specialist. A talented painter and sculptor, she is also a passionate catalyst for blossoming creativity. Having earned a degree in Art History from the University of North Texas, she continued her studies at Christie’s Fine Arts in London, completing several tours of Europe’s finest galleries and museums.

As an art and art history instructor, Barley has taught for Young Audiences, Artreach, and other programs in many area schools. She joined Lakewood Arts in 1992 as a teacher, and has been its owner/director since 1999.
