"Teaching itself is a creative act, and Joanna and Barley are the best of teachers. The weekly exercises and class projects are thoughtful and move students out of thinking about creative work and into actual creation. Looking back at my class notebook, I realize that the exercises continued to work for me long after the course was done--the creative blocks I listed my first week are no longer blocks for me at all. Barley and Joanna made a candle in my favorite colors--green and purple--for my writing; it and their teaching continue to light my work."

"On September 18th, Studio Arts Dallas will be starting up another 'Artists Way' class. This is the "art class" that I took two years ago that changed my life for the better and catalyzed me out of mental and emotional stagnation. It helped me to grow and become more grounded, to open my clogged creativity channels and let the freedom flow through. Both Barley and Joanna, the instructors/guides, are intuitive and loving, giving every group member an unforgettable memory to take with you throughout the rest of your life. Honestly, it's one of the best things I've ever done for myself...especially in Dallas. It's not exactly a studio art class. It's not exactly a group therapy class. It's a little of both and a lot more fun than either. "
