voyages and monsters

Voyages and Monsters
Whether you are Pirate, Olympian or Star Trekker, you own this voyage! Your favorite companions will share this adventure with you as you design a 4 part schematic drawing of your vessel and make a sculptural representation of your ship’s deck in cardboard, clay and non traditional media. Monsters abound in sky and water and land. This is YOUR dream build-it class.

fairies

Fairies
The power of the imagination is as enchanting as this camp. Miss Tammy is back for fairy house building magic! Don’t miss this great opportunity. Flutter into a world of magical creatures who will entertain you with a wave of the magic wand of your own design. Make a fairy house and a fairy to inhabit it. Storytelling and art making are interwoven in our week together.

drawing with pencil

Drawing with Pencil
Learn to see as the artist sees! Develop the hand/eye connection through a traditional, yet exciting, approach to drawing. Our projects are designed to impart skills quickly with enthusiastic results. Really spend time with your favorite tool…the essential basic…while learning proportion, perspective and composition. We will use other media as well, just to mix it up a bit.

animals in clay
fiesta mudworks

Mudworks
Get your hands dirty! Learn a variety of ceramic techniques (coil, slab, extruding, wheel, pinch) to create beautiful and useful objects. A great class for beginners, but whatever your level of experience, you will find expert instruction, great project ideas and lots of clay to work with. Two sections this year…
-Animals in Clay
Do you love animals? Honor them with clay creations that will explore the tiger in you. Make at least 3 fabulous sculptures and functional vessels.
-Throw a Fiesta!
Make a party, Mexico style…Throw on the wheel some bowls for chips and dip. Also make pinch pot marachas, coil built tree of life candle holders and slab clay frames primed for serape-weaving!

Cartoon
Explore the basics of cartoon illustration in this Superfun class! Of course we’ll write an original comic book complete with storyboard, then ink and color your creation. If you have characters you’ve been designing, here’s their big chance at stardom! New side projects every summer.

mudworks teens intensive

Mudworks - Teen Wheel Camp
Really get down and dirty on the wheel. Learn advanced throwing and trimming techniques. Make a teapot with fitted lid and pulled handle with cups to match! Also work on self designed, hand-built projects when not on the wheel. Some clay experience advised! Limit 6 students. Each student will get approximately 7 hours wheel time.

M-F August 4-8?2-4 pm and a glazing day August 16 from 2-4. (12 hours total) $195

oil painting

Oil Painting
We will investigate specific techniques of using water – based oil paint, encouraging students to express themselves with their own style while developing use of color, value, design and composition. New projects every year!

experimental drawing and painting

Experimental Drawing and Painting
This is for the ‘Evel Knievel’ artist in you. Explore basic methods of color, value, and composition while we will ‘take it up a notch’ by incorporating photographs and mystery methods for inspiration, and use non-traditional media and supports. We dare you!

painting with acrylic

Painting with Acrylic
We will PAINT A LOT…on paintings big and small…spending time focusing on HOW to really use paint, mix it, draw with it, over paint, under paint, working from imagination and life. Students will learn to incorporate other media for more impact and interest. You will be ready to work in your own studio when done!

Weaving
O, Dream Weaver! Create a traditional sampler of different weave structures using a frame loom from plain
weave to pick-and-pick weave structures. Then make coin purses or wallets, pictorial wall hangings, and more.
